Anna Marie

Anna is two months old today and I'm just getting around to blogging about her.  Newborns are time consuming.  I hope to post her birth story and pictures soon.

Mirror, mirror

We've been rotating art around the house.  Recently (okay, it was March) a mirror was left on the floor much to the delight of Connor.

Adventures in Talking - Las Cruces Edition

Asking where Sharon is: "Where's Grandpa Erik's lady?"

Seeing Mommy in a nightgown for the first time this summer: "Is that your princess?"

After seeing two city buses and and two tanker trucks: "It's AMAZING! Las Cruces is amazing!"

Adventures in Talking - Spring 2012

Me: "Connor, are you ready to get out of the bath?"
Connor: "No, I had a hard day"

"I have a 'dea.  It's about a present for Connor.  A Mater present."

When talking with Connor and his friend Quinn about a cockroach they found.
Quinn: "I like cockroaches"
Me: "I don't like cockroaches, they're yucky"
Connor: "Mama, you don't like cockroaches, you like food"

Snack Time

We've recently added snack time to our evening routine.  I'm fairly certain it's Connor's favorite part of the evening.  A few weeks ago he enjoyed it so much that he ate two helpings of yogurt and Cheerios.  We're used to our good eater but this even surprised us so much we had to document it.  For your viewing pleasure, here's Connor eating a ridiculous amount of yogurt.

And here's the time lapsed version.

Adventures in Talking

I've been meaning to do some posts about things Connor says. Actually, I've been meaning to do posts about lots of things. Here's my attempt to get back in to regular blogging with some things Connor's said that we've found amusing.

After using the restroom in a public place for the first time. We were in a crowded waiting room at a restaurant. Connor came running back from the bathroom and shouted "I pee-pee in the potty! I made it LELLOW!"

To Thomas in the morning: "Go away, Dada!"
Thomas: "You need to be nice, Connor"
Connor: "Go away PLEASE"

When drinking milk in the morning: "Ahhh. It's so good for me" Thank you Dairy Farmers of America.

Spelling

A few weeks ago, we went to dinner at Route 66 diner with Jaimee and Lily. They gave the kids paper menus and crayons to keep them occupied. At one point, I asked Connor if we should write his name. He eagerly agreed and started telling me what to write.

"C-O-N..."

And then things went down hill quickly.

"D-T-O-11-12-13"

I guess we'll hold off on the Harvard applications.

Real Men do Housework

Every time Thomas gets the vacuum out, Connor rushes to help.  Here they are tackling some dust bunnies in November.

If you don't speak two-year-old, let me translate the following video: "I'm vacuuming! I'm vacuuming!  I'm vacuuming!  Cheese!"

Happy Birthday Connor!

This post is about Connor's second birthday even though he's now 26 months old.  The next few posts will be woefully out of date but I'm going with "better late than never" on this.

Connor's birthday was train themed.  Kid loves trains.  We invited some close friends and family for an afternoon of cake and fun. It was great to have so many people celebrate with our little guy.  Like his first birthday, he woke up on the day of the party with a fever.  Luckily, a dose of ibuprofen and some new trains set him right. We spent quite a bit of time decorating the night before (even though it might not look like it!)

Connor demured while everyone sang "Happy Birthday" and then sat down to eat his cupcake.  He's not a big fan of sweets.  I think he only took a couple of bites of this before going back to playing with his trains. Note that he brought two of them to the table with him.

Connor's cousin, Elliot, is a HUGE fan of sweets.  Here he is enjoying his cupcake like it's going out of style.

Cousin Kai was less impressed by the food.

We didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked but we had a great time.

Connor's actual birthday fell on Thanksgiving.  We didn't do presents at his party so we started the day with presents and then went from house to house getting more turkey presents. For two days after, Connor kept asking "more presents?".  Here he is opening his presents from Mommy and Daddy.

Happy Birthday Connor!
